49th Awam Monlam Chenmo Message by H.H.Khenchen Lama Rinpoche

Amitabha and Amitayus Teaching and Outer Transmission

Good morning! Good afternoon! Good evening everyone.

Today is a very good day and a very auspicious day as it is the Full Moon. This is the 49th Awam Monlam Chenmo.

We are doing this today for several reasons. This is the auspicious anniversary and Lhumsu Zhujpei Duchen. This is the anniversary of Buddha Shakyamuni’s mom becoming pregnant with him. Buddha Shakyamuni’s mom, Queen Maya Devi dreamed of a white elephant from Tushita and the elephant entering her womb. She dreamed the elephant had 6 special teeth in this auspicious dream. She thought it was a good dream so she asked the king. The king said ask a master. The master said it was a Buddha. This is important for everyone to know.Also, this is Amitabha’s day. Our world situation is more difficult now with water storms and flooding; fire; wind, and illness, especially with Covid -19. All of these are more and more now.

Today I’m going to do Blessing, Teaching and outer transmission of Amitabha and Amitayus mantra that comes from H.H. Jigme Phuntsok. H.H. Jigme Phuntsok’s previous life was Terton Sogyal Rinpoche.I am doing this teaching now on the 49th Awam Monlam Chenmo because if we do this Sadhana, Long Life mantra and are healthy, we will go to Amitabha’s Pureland, of Dewachen. Do this prayer and dedication for world long life, for the environment, health and all sentient beings to have good mental health.

Secondly, I’m going to do Phowa outer transmission that comes from Jigme Lingpa. It is the Longchen Nyingtik Phowa. This is important because there are a lot of people who have and will die from Covid-19; all the water with the floods; from fire and some other problems with all of the changes in the world. The bardo is very full.By doing Phowa, all suffering sentient beings in the bardo, will go to Dewachen and finish samsara. All the world suffering finishes. This is why we do these two practices of this Long-Life practice and mantra and Phowa – to finish suffering.

Follow what I say. Listen and then do thinking meditation, no thinking meditation.

Example there are 3 great Phowas: The Path of Clear Light, Great Perfection. This is Dharmadatu Phowa.Visualizing Amitabha’s Buddhahood and Vajra Yogini while doing this practice is Sambhogakaya Phowa. Refuge, Bodhicitta and our consciousness goes to Buddhahood is Nirmanakaya Phowa.You use which one you like best – Nirmanakaya Phowa, Sambhogakaya Phowa or Dharmakaya Phowa.

You can choose which one you would like to do. If you know nature of mind then is Dharmakaya. If think of Buddhahood and Amitabha with the visualization of Vajra Yogini, then is Sambhogakaya. Thinking your consciousness goes to Dewachen is Nirmanakaya.
